The Utah Works Program is now accepting proposals for grant funding to support industry-education partnerships that develop accelerated workforce training programs. However, the deadline to submit proposals is April 1, 2024 – so you’ll need to act fast!
Utah’s economy is booming, and businesses across the state are facing severe workforce shortages in high-demand fields. To help close these skilled labor gaps, the Utah System of Higher Education’s Talent Ready Utah program has announced a major new initiative called Utah Works. Through Utah Works, companies can team up with Utah’s universities, colleges, and technical schools to design short-term pre-employment and early employment training programs. Key objectives include:
- Developing short-term pre-employment and early employment training for high-demand roles
- Providing required skills instruction to meet employment qualifications
- Enabling rapid, large-scale training to quickly fill open skilled labor positions
An informational webinar was held on January 31st to provide details and answer questions about Utah Works. But the clock is ticking for interested parties to complete and submit their proposals.
The deadline to apply for Utah Works funding is April 1, 2024 at 5:00 PM.
After that date, a review committee will evaluate all submitted proposals based on criteria such as program management, projected outcomes, budgeting and more. Applicants will be notified in late spring regarding the outcome of their proposals and any grant awards.
With workforce needs continuing to surge across Utah, this is a prime opportunity for companies and education/training providers to join forces through the Utah Works program. By cultivating accelerated pathways aligned with real-world job requirements, these partnerships can help build a robust pipeline of highly-skilled workers for key industries. Don’t miss this opportunity – finalize your collaboration and submit a compelling proposal soon to beat the strict April 1st cutoff date.
