Bank of Utah to Host Free 2021 Real Estate Economic Forecast

Home /Archives forEconomy

Bank of Utah is bringing together two outstanding educators and experts on land development and investment to speak to business leaders during the 2021 Real Estate Economic Forecast virtual event, March 4, at 10 a.m. Keynote speakers Neil Walter and Jon Walter, who happen to be brothers, will provide insight and analysis on the residential and commercial real estate markets along the Wasatch Front and in Southern and Northern Utah. The free Economic Forecast event can be accessed at www.bankofutah.com and will be broadcast through Zoom. Attendees can sign up in advance and receive a reminder.

“Our customers and bankers look forward to our annual Economic Forecast events that we have sponsored for several years in Logan, Ogden, Salt Lake and Provo,” said Douglas L. DeFries, president of Bank of Utah. “But of course this year we have had to avoid large gatherings to keep everyone safe. So, we’re hosting a virtual event that anyone can join to hear economic predictions for Utah’s real estate market. We have two excellent speakers, Jon and Neil Walter. These brothers have taught real estate, economics or finance at Dixie State University and have been working very successfully for many years in real estate development and investment.

“We’re hosting the event because it’s important to be informed about Utah’s real estate and the housing market as they are a key part of Utah’s economic growth,” added DeFries. “We hope our virtual event gives our customers and bank employees a deeper understanding of the economy as a whole and provides ideas for possible commercial and residential real estate investments that help build wealth.”

Neil Walter is a partner and CEO of Brokers Holdings. He earned a B.S. in finance from B.Y.U., an MBA from Carnegie Mellon University and is a Chartered Financial Analyst. He is a licensed real estate broker focusing on investment properties, development land, special use assets and difficult-to-sell REO properties. Neil’s experience is built on a capital markets foundation of deal structuring, cash flow modeling and asset pricing. He has worked on projects in development land, multifamily and student housing, convenience and grocery stores, motel/hotel properties, manufacturing, transportation, wind farms and more. He taught economics and upper division finance at Dixie State University for nine years.

Jon Walter, COO at NAI Excel and NAI Vegas, has completed several hundred transactions over the last decade and is a valuable resource for clients across the Mountain West. Jon enjoys finance, analyzing deals and adding value to existing assets. He has valued, marketed and sold many small businesses and has vast experience in mergers and acquisitions. Jon received his MBA from B.Y.U. and a B.S. from Dixie State University where he taught real estate finance. He is a Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM), a member of ICSC (International Council of Shopping Centers) and is licensed in Utah and Nevada.
