Global Location Stratagies “Best Places for Aerospace & Defense Insights” ranked Ogden #2!
Ogden continues to grow as a leader in the aerospace industry. Global Location Strategies (GLS) recently released “Best Places for Aerospace & Defense Insights Report,” ranking Ogden # 2 with Salt Lake City coming in at # 4. With a strong engineering and manufacturing workforce, competitive business environment and proximity to Hill Air Force base, Ogden continues to draw in new aerospace companies and encourage growth.
- Just yesterday, Gauss Management Research and Engineering (GMRE) announced an expansion in Weber County that projects 50 new high-paying jobs and nearly $4 million in investment over 5 years.
- An Aerospace manufacturer just moved to the BDO last week. Precision Hermetic Technology (PHT), a leader in the aerospace and defense sectors that manufactures small highly reliable components, opened their doors last week. They are investing $19.7 million to establish and expand their new headquarters in Ogden and are projected to add 210 new high-paying jobs during the next 10 years.
- Williams International is investing over $1 billion into its Ogden manufacturing facility to build military and commercial jet engines, creating 300 new high-paying jobs.
That is a lot of money being invested and jobs being brought to our community! Industry growth is great but how does this affect me and my small business? Growth in aerospace and manufacturing creates a ripple effect throughout our local economy.
This aerospace growth doesn’t only benefit the aerospace companies but it also creates opportunities for contractors, restaurants, housing, professional services and suppliers. Growing companies need accountants, attorneys, marketing agencies, processional services…etc. Not only that but more jobs mean more people moving to Ogden. As more employees and their families come to Weber County, they need places to live, eat, shop and spend their free time. That means an aerospace expansion isn’t just an aerospace story. It’s a small-business story, too.
Every new job has the potential to bring additional dollars into our community. Those dollars will circulate through businesses across Weber County. This kind of investment also helps put Ogden and Weber County on the map. For our small businesses, that means more potential customers, more partnerships, more opportunities and a growing local economy to be part of.
