EnableUtah, a local nonprofit organization that helps people with disabilities and special needs find meaningful community employment, announces that the Eli Young Band will headline their 32nd Annual Community Concert. EnableUtah’s concert will be on June 19th at the Ogden Amphitheater, and the opening artist will be Kaleb Austin a local Utahn. Over the last 32 years, the concert has become a tradition for the community. It raises awareness for EnableUtah and their purpose. During the break between the opening performance and the headliner, EnableUtah talks about their organization and why they were created.
During the Concert, you can also participate in a silent auction.100% of the proceeds go to scholarships for people waiting for DSPD funding. The DSPD stands for the Division of Services for People with Disabilities in Utah, which is part of the Department of Health and Human Services. They provide funding for employment-readiness training, but they have a waitlist typically about 6-7 years.
About Enable Utah
Created in 1968, EnableUtah originally started out as an academic resource for disabled children when the public school system denied them educational opportunities. Throughout time, EnableUtah adjusted their focus to make work approachable to everyone regardless of their disability. They assist with job training, education, daily living skills, and support for finding a customized career in the community.
EnableUtah provides job opportunities and training, and any funding that they raise goes towards their programs. they have several jobs that they offer for training, like a shred facility (Which meets the strictest security guidelines), a production floor where they help assemble products for other companies, janitorial services, and other careers customized for their specific needs.
On any given day they have 60-70 clients working between the production floor, janitorial services, and partnerships with other local businesses. EnableUtah works with partner companies like Autoliv, the IRS, and Texas Roadhouse. EnableUtah either keeps their clients as employees and they work for another company along with an EnableUtah Job Coach, or the company looking to partner hires them directly.
In an interview with Trish Lester, she said that EnableUtah’s goals for 2026 is to earn as much as they can for scholarship funding. She stated that the need for scholarships have increased, and so the more money they receive the more clients they can help. They raise money through several events, but the two main events are an Annual Community Concert, and an Annual Charity Golf Tournament. If you are a business owner you can also partner with EnableUtah, either through event sponsorships or working with EnableUtah to provide meaningful employment for their clients.
Enable Utah also has a community room that they rent out, and it is available to any businesses that would like to use it for training or a conference room. it holds 114 people with tables and chairs and has outside access, as well as bathrooms. In additional to the conference room, they have a resource room that is free and open to the whole community. You can use it for studying, research, or reading books and other literature about different disabilities.
