Bank of Utah to Sponsor Spring into Service Scavenger Hunt in May

Bank of Utah is inviting families and individuals to join them in a Spring into Service Scavenger Hunt to do good works around their communities May 3 – 21. Using social media, the local bank will offer a way to sweeten community service efforts of individuals with a $10 cash donation to their favorite Utah nonprofit organization. The bank will donate up to $300 per 501c3 organization, for a campaign total of $7,000.

“Last year and part of 2021 have been difficult for us all, due to the pandemic, earthquakes and political unrest,” said Douglas L. DeFries, Bank of Utah president. “Now it’s spring and a good time to spread some love and light throughout our communities. We hope you will join us for the inaugural Bank of Utah Spring into Service Scavenger Hunt. We’ve compiled a list of simple acts of service that we can tackle in our communities. Let’s work together to see how many service projects we can check off the list, and Bank of Utah will reward your service with a $10 donation to a local nonprofit of your choice.”

A list of Spring into Service Scavenger Hunt random acts of kindness is listed at  https://www.bankofutah.com/springservice. Service efforts include paying for the meal of a person behind you in a drive thru or restaurant, picking up a bag full of trash from community streets, sweeping someone’s porch or driveway, washing someone’s car, taking someone’s grocery cart back, giving a flower and a compliment to a stranger, mowing someone’s lawn, doing household chores for a relative or neighbor, donating time, money, food and household items to a non-profit, and more.

In order to qualify for the $10 charitable donation, participants are asked to post a photo of themselves and/or their friends completing a service, on social media. The post must include the hashtags #bouspringservice and @BankofUtah as well as the tag of the nonprofit organization that should receive the $10 donation. A list of suggested nonprofits and their tags is available on the bank’s web site.

Bank of Utah branch employees will be joining the Spring Into Service Scavenger Hunt by doing local community service projects. For more information visit www.bankofutah.com.
