For almost 18 years Maria Hurd worked as a Registered Nurse in the state of Colorado. Being a nurse fulfilled a dream for her. She loved helping and serving people. When she and her husband retired in 2013 they moved to Utah to be closer to family. She was excited to enjoy the retired life with her husband and do just about anything they pleased.

In February of 2015 Maria set out on her new adventure as a Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultant. In the beginning it sounded fun. She was excited to learn new things and make new friends. It took her a little bit of time to figure out what she wanted to do with Mary Kay. She didn’t want another career, she had just finished 18 years of that in Colorado. This was the time she was supposed to relax and enjoy life. Maria decided to use her Mary Kay business as a vehicle to serve, assist others and bless other peoples lives, just as she was doing as a registered nurse.
She now teaches skin care and makeup with Mary Kay. Maria goes to clients homes or to a venue of their choice and shows new Mary Kay products. She also offers opportunities to try different products with friends. She loves to help people look and feel their best.
Maria believes great service is the best policy. She is the “Unique” item to her business. She love people. She learned from her business to cultivate friends. Everyone she meets is important to her. Maria’s clients know they are valued by the time and effort she puts forth in making sure they are completely happy with what they have experienced with the Mary Kay product. Customers have said Maria is just kind to be around and they always feel joy when they leave.
When asked what the biggest reward or win for her organization is Maria said:
October is breast cancer awareness month. Every October I ask everyone I come in contact with to donate $30 to my cause. I put together what I call Chemo Care Kits to give to women undergoing chemo. In these kits are hydrating Mary Kay Products. I don’t make any profit off of these kits. I put them together and make them pretty with some pink color and a beautiful bow. In October 2021 I put together 45 Chemo Care Kits of which 5 of them were given out privately and the other 40 went to McKay Dee Hospital’s Chemo Unit. This yearly project gives me great joy and pleasure. It is a tribute to my own mother who passed away years ago from breast cancer.
Maria is excited about the innovation of Mary Kay’s new and trendy product. She feels she offers the best from a company that is trusted and gives!
