Legislative Affairs

The Legislative Affairs Committee is dedicated to establishing a stance on the current legislation that benefits all areas of the community. This way, the legislators can better understand what is going on in the community and the community has a greater voice in the local legislation.

In addition, The Ogden-Weber Legislative Affairs Committee is involved with the Northern Utah Chamber Coalition (NUCC), which is sponsored and run by four chambers from across Northern Utah. With the help of the Ogden-Weber Chamber of Commerce, the Davis County Chamber of Commerce, the Cache County Chamber of Commerce, and the Brigham City Chamber of Commerce, NUCC addresses the needs of the community.

The Priorities of Legislative Affairs

Legislation covers a wide spectrum of laws that govern many aspects of the community. By having representatives from many of those areas on the committee, the legislation process can move more smoothly and create laws that work well for the community as a whole.

The committee’s main legislative priorities include:

  • Economic development
  • Education
  • Transportation
  • Healthcare
  • Capital facility
  • Hill Air Force Base
  • Tourism

With businesses, community members and legislators working together in this coalition, the legislation can more accurately reflect what is important to the community of Northern Utah.
