As the largest credit union in the state of Utah, America First boasts a long-standing history and 78 years servicing members and has become one of the largest, most stable and most progressive credit unions in the country while remaining a member-owned, not-for-profit cooperative financial institution. Today, America First has 123 locations and is the 11th largest credit union in assets in the United States with more than $8.9 billion and the sixth largest credit union in membership in America with more than 877,000 members.
Q: What is America First Credit Union doing that you are most excited about?
Providing financial solutions that are relevant to our members through every stage of their life, thus creating a lifetime relationship and partnership.
Q: How is the finance industry changing and how is America First Credit Union reacting?
Technology is changing rapidly, and we take pride that America First is a premier provider of electronic services. We have award winning technology solutions for our members including 24/7 web access, home banking and mobile applications. Our members have 24/7 real time ability to control the use and security of their Visa credit and debit cards, something that few institutions offer.
Q: What is the company’s biggest challenge and how are you addressing it?
We live in a complex and changing world. Our commitment is to serve the diverse and changing needs of our members, and to help simplify their financial lives. We do this by listening to our members, providing common sense and meaningful solutions, and serving them with professionalism and excellence.
Q: What are some of the ways America First Credit Union engages with the Ogden-Weber community?
America First participates in the following: CCS – Food Pantry and Bridging the Gap, Youth Impact, Weber School Foundation, Christmas Tree Jubilee, Ogden Pioneer Days Rodeo and more.
America First also provides grants to local school teachers through 100% For Kids Foundation. We work with over 750 employers inside Weber County. Offering CU services either onsite or providing other type of Financial literacy/support. America First is also heavily involved with the Harvest Moon Festival and other Historic 25th Street events
The Ogden-Weber community is an essential part of the organization’s roots. We appreciate the partnerships and opportunities that come from serving the place where many of our branches/support offices are located.
Q: What is something people might be surprised to learn about America First Credit Union?
We are the largest credit union in Utah, the 11th largest in the USA by assets, and the 6th largest in USA in terms of numbers of members. We have only had four CEOs since our founding in 1939.
It’s no surprise, but we have consistently been voted the number one financial institution by consumers in local communities.
