Mike Plowman is a commercial banker and vice president for Chase Bank. As a young boy Mike wanted to grow up to become a banker. No really, he did. Inspired by Jimmy Stewart’s character George Bailey from It’s a Wonderful Life, Mike wanted a career path that would let him help people flourish and businesses grow. He has spent the last 28 years doing exactly that working in the Ogden-Weber area.
Mike’s keys to success in navigating his Chamber membership have been to show up, get involved and build relationships. Wanting 2023 to be a special year as Head Gandy Dancer Mike strived to attend every event that he possibly could and was awarded the Cosmo Award for highest attendance at 112%. Mike is an LNU graduate and has served twice as the Chair of Contacts 2.

When discussing the secret to Weber County’s success, Jim says, “In Weber County we recognize that it takes the entire community to address community issues. This is the ‘We’ in Weber. We work together. We care together. We solve problems together. We get things done together.” In addition to serving as the President of the Ogden-Weber Technical College, Jim sits on multiple community, workforce and economic development boards including the Northern Utah Chamber Coalition, Northern Utah Economic Alliance, United Partnership Council, and the Utah Defense Alliance. She has degrees from both BYU and the University of Utah, and therefore bleeds Purple. Jodi and her husband, Tolan, have four children and have lived in Weber County for more than 20 years.
She loves to take an active role in helping the business community, and the people of Ogden. As a Chamber Spiker, Jodi enjoys extending camaraderie, support, and cheer for new and growing businesses. As Chair of the Morning Speaker Series, her goal was to showcase local experts who shared their blueprints for success in all areas of business and life.
In 2020, Jodi, like the rest of the world, learned to PIVOT. Though ZOOM life is not as fun as real life, she recognizes that personal connection is more crucial than ever, and has found new ways to support and engage with the community. Her favorite things to come out of the pandemic are family-sized dinners to-go from her favorite Ogden restaurants, and the authentic open-your-life sharing of resources and stories that now happens on screens daily.

It has been a great privilege to be an active member of the Ogden Weber Chamber over the past 12 years as a representative from Weber State University Division of Online and Continuing Education. I’ve met so many amazing people in my involvement on the Workforce Development committee, Women in Business committee, and as a Spiker member since July 2010. It has been especially rewarding to serve on the Spiker Executive Committee the past four years and as Head Gandy Dancer this year. I’ve had a front-row seat to see the Chamber in action supporting new and expanding businesses get off to a great start with a ribbon-cutting and official welcoming to our community. As Chamber ambassadors, we help new members get connected to other Chamber members by attending Business After Hours, other Chamber events, and getting involved in Chamber committees. I am so impressed by the courage and enthusiasm of the new business owners who are following their dreams and passions. As Head Gandy Dancer this past year, along with a fantastic executive leadership team and all of the dedicated Spiker members, we’ve enjoyed a great year of Chamber and Spiker activities strengthening the personal and professional relationships of us all. Thank you to each of the 2019 Spiker Executive Team members (Shane, Maresha, Sam and Ken), our Chamber liaisons (Heather and Bailey) and Chuck for all the support this year.

I would call myself a fun loving, horseback riding, rowdy boy mom who spends my days with the love of her life on their family farm in Hooper, Green Acres. A second-generation credit union advocate, I started my career with AFCU 20 years ago. Finding my passion in sales and relationship building when visiting businesses and serving my community as a branch manager for the Credit Union. Today I manage a dynamic sales team going strong, covering 3 states, 130+ branches and 5000 + Select Employer Group relationships.
I appreciate the importance of community and have a genuine love and belief in the credit union philosophy of ‘People Helping People’, finding much satisfaction in serving. One calling near and dear to my heart has been the many years I’ve spent with the State of Utah’s largest Women in Business committee with 200+ professionals in the Ogden/Weber Chamber. My time as chair with the theme of IGNITE, I was given the opportunity to see the WIB committee take to new levels of success. Membership growth higher than ever before, selling out the annual Women Empowered Conference with over 200 seats taken, our first ever service project this summer where we built over 800 pantry packs to feed families in need…the list of celebrations goes on and on. Finding new and fun ways to connect like on social media, we focused on increased engagement incorporating LIVE videos, interactive posts and worked hard to connect with our committee Members. The goal was to IGNITE ourselves, our businesses and our community. 2018 Women in Business – mission accomplished!
Looking back on my time as Chair, I ended those amazing 12 months with an abundance of gratitude. We have incredible individuals in our community, both men and women. Especially grateful to my sisterhood of Executive Board Members, these ladies lifted me up and had an incredible ability to show up. They say if you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go TOGETHER. Women in Business, the sky is the limit. I’d go anywhere with you!
When it comes to Credit Unions, AFCU, its Members, my community and my family, I am definitely all in.
