The Community Development Committee creates positive business environments and enriches the community through recreational awareness and quality, recycling and enhancing our community image. The committee's goals are to:
- Partner with community and business leaders to achieve common community objectives.
- Promote Green Community best practices including air quality, recycling, alternate transportation and support programs such as Fresh Air Friday, Sustainable Ogden, Pathways and Blue Sky.
- Promoting transportation infrastructure and public transit to ensure growth opportunity (coordinated through the Chamber Transportation Committee).
- Audit and take action to improve quality of life issues, including crime, public safety and education.
- Support, promote and help develop local events that create community spirit.
- Foster housing redevelopment programs for inner cities including refurbishing historic properties. Help develop incentives to increase the ratio of owner occupied properties and affordable housing development projects.
- Develop Neighborhood Pride/ Recognition programs.
- Shift community branding paradigm and market image. Ensure residents understand the community branding as an Aerospace center, Outdoor Recreation hub and a growing destination for convention and tourism.
- Educate the public to the benefits of community and economic development.
- Develop and sponsor community events including: HikeWeberCounty, Community pride, Green conference, Green Sciences Fair and cultural events.
- Support and promote traditional community events throughout the county to create a unified county partnership.
- Advocate and establish standards for quality of life issues.
