Contacts Committees exchange sales leads with one another in a friendly networking environment.  More than one Committee exists with no two members in any committee representing the same industry.  Each committee meets twice monthly.  There is a charge of $5.00 when referral slips have to be reordered.

Leade
rship Northern Utah Academy

Leadership Northern Utah helps individuals better understand the community and develop leadership skills. Following the Academy's three-day opening retreat (September 18 - 21), participants spend one day a month, generally the third Thursday of each month, from October through May, in sessions presenting a wide range of opinions and perspectives. Participants have an opportunity to explore controversial issues with leaders representing a variety of community interests.

To develop and motivate participants to take action addressing community needs.

  • Take action on community concerns
  • Assume leadership roles in community affairs

Participants
The program looks for individuals who will commit both time and energy toward community involvement, and who:

  • Are concerned with community issues
  • Desire personal growth opportunities
  • Show concern for the future of Northern Utah
  • Reflect the diversity of Northern Utah residents

Cost
The cost of this year-long program is $1000, of which $100 must be paid by the participant. The balance of the tuition may be paid by participants or their employers. Tuition covers the opening retreat, meals, field trips, instructional materials, speakers, graduation ceremony and awards. Attendance is mandatory. Participants must be willing to attend all activities. If a participant misses more than two of the scheduled days, they are unable to graduate until the days are made up.

Scholarships
Scholarships are available through the Leadership Northern Utah Alumni Association as well as Women in Business, Spikers and the Ogden Weber ATC.

Scholarships received from Chamber committees, in combination, can make up no more than 50% of tuition and individual scholarships can make up no more than 40%.

Funding received from the Ogden Weber ATC Custom Fit Training Program can cover any amount of the tuition cost. This amount will vary based on eligibility.

Northern Utah Chamber Coalition

The Ogden/Weber Chamber is happy to partner with the Davis, Cache and Brigham Chambers of Commerce to support Northern Utah Legislative
Priorities as part of the Northern Utah Chamber Coalition.
Member Relations assists the Chamber in retention and membership-building activities by visiting new and renewing members. Committee members are also able to build their own business in the process by meeting with other businesses and community leaders.

There is no charge for membership in this committee and it is open to anyone who would like to participate. The committee meets the third Monday of each month in the Chamber Board Room.

The Military Affairs Committee is a joint committee between the Ogden/Weber Chamber of Commerce and the Davis Chamber of Commerce. The committee works to foster beneficial relationships between Hill Air Force Base and the business community.

The Partners in Education Committee facilitates educational programs including partnerships with local schools and businesses. There is no cost for this committee. Partners in Education meets the first Tuesday of the month. For more information contact Sheryl.

 

School News School Links    

Spikers are Chamber ambassadors who conduct ribbon-cuttings at grand openings and community events, and promote the goodwill of the Chamber to other communities.

The Spikers are made up of about 50 community leader volunteers. Each Spiker is required to attend a minimum percentage of events. On average, about 12 Spikers will attend any given event.

The Spikers typically participate in 30-50 ribbon cuttings each year. To schedule a ribbon cutting, your organization must meet some basic requirements that will help us help you have a great event:
  1. Have a current membership in the Ogden/Weber Chamber.
  2. The event must be for organizations celebrating a new facility or one that has been significantly changed or expanded.
  3. The ribbon cutting must be scheduled with the Chamber no less than two weeks prior to the event.
  4. Ribbon cuttings can only be held Monday-Friday, around the lunch hour (11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.) or toward the end of the work day (around 5 p.m.).

The Transportation Committee addresses all forms of transportation needs and concerns in Weber County. This committee meets on the second Thursday of each month at 7:30 AM at the Chamber Office.

UBET (Utah Business Employers Team) promotes the employment of people with disabilities and provides business to business support for employers. The UBET Committee meets once a month, with our Workforce Development committee, on the fourth Wednesday at 8:00am in the Chamber Office.

Women in Business

WIB is the Chamber's largest committee, with over 200 members. This group meets regularly to educate professional women. The organization serves as an effective forum for networking opportunities. WIB meets for a luncheon on the fourth Tuesday of the month.

Please note that luncheons are subject to change, please check your WIB luncheon invite for further information. Also the WIB luncheons do require an RSVP to the Chamber at (801) 621-8300.

Women in Business Committees

ATHENA FUNDRAISER Women Empowered Conference

This is the annual fundraising event full of discovery, learning, adn empowerment. It is held for the members of Women in Business and community members. The funds raised will be used during the year to help fund the Athena program. Committee meets April through October.

DIRECTORY
This committee publishes an annual Women in Business directory which provides each member information and access to other members. The directory also contains the bylaws, a description of committees, and a list of officers. The Directory Committee is in charge of selling ads in the directory each year to assist with defraying the costs of producing the directory. (January through March only)

MEMBER COMMUNICATION
Members on this committee work with Women in Business members to publish the quarterly newsletter. Working closely with the Chamber liaison regarding all communication sent to the membership. The committee also pursues other publication avenues including monthly Chamber magazine articles and press releases for the purpose of promoting Women in Business issues.

MEMBERSHIP DEVELOPMENT
The Membership Development committee provides opportunities for the recognition of member accomplishments, conducts new member orientations, recruits and builds membership and welcomes new members at Women in Business functions. This committee is also responsible for introductions of new members at the monthly meetings.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
This committee arranges monthly speakers and monthly luncheons. They work closely with other committees to address membership interests and provide programs which implement the Women in Business vision and mission statements. Professional Development should also prepare seminars for skills enhancement (1-2 annually).

RECOGNITION AND SCHOLARSHIPS
The members of this committee will work directly with Women In Business members to provides scholarship information. They determine who receives professional development scholarships and how those individuals will share what they learned with other Women in Business members.
